Census Timeline

Important Census Information!

1.    2020 Census – INFORMATION WILL BE SENT TO RESIDENTS IN MARCH, 2020

This is the official census that is identified in the U.S. Constitution and is a count of all residents in the United States as of April 1st.  This census form asks just nine questions.  El Mirage city staff and a Complete Count Committee comprised of engaged community volunteers, business owners, school representatives, faith-based and non-profit organizations, are working to educate the community about the upcoming census count.

2.  The 2020 Census Paid Media Campaign will occur in three phases:

A.   Awareness/Education Phase (Jan. 14 – March 12): Builds immediate awareness and provides educational information about the 2020 Census.

B.    Motivation/Participation Phase (March 13 – May 20): Inspires and motivates the public to complete the 2020 Census questionnaire online, by phone, or by mail.

C.    Reminder/Nonresponse Follow Up (May 13 – June 28): Continues to remind people to respond to the 2020 Census and to support census takers as they go door-to-door to count households that have not yet responded.

Beginning in mid-March, households can respond to the census online, by phone, or by mail.
