Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) Regional Council awarded a grant to El Mirage for $200,162 to replace the City’s aging street sweepers. Grant funds awarded to the City are part of an allocation made to MAG by the Federal Highway Administration
Construction crews renovating Gentry Park are on a tight schedule to complete the field improvements by the start of the Little League season. The project will improve the City Park located at the intersection of Thunderbird Road and El Mirage Road.
El Mirage Police arrested three elementary students, ages 10, 11 and 12, for burglary and criminal damage. The Thompson Ranch Elementary School was closed for Christmas break when the three suspects entered the school through an unlocked door.

On December 6, 2011 The El Mirage detective unit completed a month longinvestigation into the theft of 180 bronze vases, valued at over $110,000.00. These vases wereremoved from grave sites at the Sun West Funeral Home in El Mirage.

El Mirage fire crews responded to an alarm late Friday, December 2, at 12329 Northwest Grand Avenue to discover a fire in the suite occupied by Sun Cities Appliance. The fire appears to have been caused by an overloaded electrical cord.
