SPECIAL EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EL
MIRAGE SENIOR CENTER

5:00 P.M., WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2, 2005
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Fred Waterman called the meeting to
order at 5:02 P.M.
ROLL CALL: Present were: Mayor Fred Waterman, Vice Mayor Michele
Kern, Councilmember Rick Monzon, Councilmember Kathleen White, Councilmember Xavier
Bedolla, Councilmember Roy Delgado, Councilmember Tensi Reed, Fire Chief Roy
and City Clerk Edith Hoover.
Consideration and action
regarding Resolution No. R05-03-07, declaring an emergency due to excessive
flooding from repeated recent significant rain facing dangerous sewage and
street deterioration conditions.
Fire Chief Roy Levenda explained the purpose of
this declaration and its necessity in light of significant rain damage during
recent storms. He reported our estimates are relatively low, approximately
$8,000. Only staffing beyond the norm and actual costs are allowed. A letter
from Finance Director Diana Betancourt explained the importance to the City
because of our current financial position. We cannot add anything more than
the submitted amount. Vice Mayor Kern request a list of the claims after they

ADJOURNMENT: Councilmember White made a motion to adjourn at
5:09 P.M.; seconded by Councilmember Monzon.
