2012 Election Cycle
In 2012, the electors of the City of El Mirage elected three (3) Councilmembers, each to a four (4) year term.
Also in November, the electors of the City of El Mirage cast their ballots on the extension of the City’s Home Rule Option (alternative expenditure limitation).
As with all elections in the City of El Mirage, the possibility exists that all seats will be filled at the August 28, 2012 Primary and no General Election will be held in November 6, 2012 for local candidates. If any candidate receives 50% of the number of ballots cast plus 1 vote, that candidate is deemed elected. If no candidate received 50%+ or in case of a tie, the candidates with the highest vote totals (not elected) will be placed on the November 2008 General Ballot. The run-off (if required) ballot for the November 2012 election will contain at least one more candidate’s name than there are openings on Council. All candidates elected in 2012 will assume office in December 2012.
