El Mirage road project gets a green light

Grand Ave and Thunderbird Road

An aerial photo from ADOT shows the scope of work planned to rework the series of intersections near Grand Avenue and Thunderbird and Thompson Ranch roads.

A project to improve the Grand Avenue intersection at Thunderbird and Thompson Ranch roads in El Mirage has been given an environmental green light from the Federal Highway Administration.

Work is scheduled to start by the fall of 2015 on the project that would shift the Thunderbird Road connection to Grand Avenue so that it directly aligns with Thompson Ranch Road, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
